Science Fiction Writer

Before Ellen Klages began writing science fiction, she had to write science fact. And she was pretty good at it - at least after she got a handle on the science part.

The Cleveland Heights resident and newly crowed Nebula Award winner got her start as a professional writer in the early 1990s at the Exploratorium, a science museum in San Francisco. As a staff member there, Ms. Klages wrote four books of hands-on science activities for kids. It was a significant achievement for someone who, at the time, "really didn't know anything about science.''
