Jane Slaseman

A celebration of life will be held later for Jane Slaseman of Eugene, who died Oct. 27 of a stroke. She was 83.

Slaseman was born Jan. 16, 1922, in Eugene to Hugh and Ella Brown McFadden. She married Paul Slaseman in March 1946 in Camp Pickett, Va. He died Jan. 31, 1993.

She attended Bailey Hill Grade School and graduated from Eugene High School. She served in the Women's Army Air Corps during World War II. She had worked as an office manager for Safeway and as a secretary at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.

Slaseman enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and playing bingo. She belonged to the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include a son, Greg Slaseman of Wallowa; a daughter, Paula Slaseman of West Linn; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to charities for Hurricane Katrina victims.

Duane Chambers

The funeral will be held Nov. 1 for Duane Howard Chambers of Culver, formerly of Eugene, who died Oct. 26 of cancer. He was 64.

Chambers was born Nov. 8, 1940, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Charles and Grace Amo Chambers. He married Marian Johnson on Oct. 4, 1958, in Eugene.

He grew up in Belfountain and attended Monroe High School. He lived in Eugene most of his life.
