Leland Pickert
The funeral will be held Oct. 31 for Leland J. Pickert of Eugene, who died Oct. 27 of heart failure. He was 84.
Pickert was born July 17, 1921, in Veneta, to Deforest and Dovie Trout Pickert. He married LeEtta Johnson on May 31, 1947, in Eugene.
He graduated from Eugene High School in 1940. He later served in the National Guard's 41st Division, Company M, 186th Infantry, in Dutch East New Guinea, Byak Island and the Philippines.
Pickert worked for Coast Distributors for 33 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, elk hunting, fishing, farming, water parks and Disney World. He belonged to the Teamsters union and was a lifetime member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sherry Warner of Springfield and Jana Nokleby of Corvallis; a son, Steven of Redmond; two sisters, Luree Wilson of Eugene and Luella Dudeck of Pendleton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Lane Memorial Funeral Home in Eugene. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Lane...
