Wooster Lake is less than two miles from its large, noisy cousin, the Chain O' Lakes. They might as well be worlds apart.
The brawny Chain is known for fast boats and loud summer fun. Wooster Lake, by comparison, is prudish - a peaceful, almost pristine pond, home to swans and dainty little fish like the Iowa darter.
These days, however, Wooster is the focus of a nasty spat between those who live along its shores and disagree over how it should be used.
At issue is whether to allow fast-moving motorized boats and personal watercraft to operate on Wooster Lake, and whether that will damage the ecosystem of one of Lake County's cleanest lakes.
"It cannot remain a viable and safe lake if opened to unrestricted usage," said Penny Price Cummings, president of the Tanneron Bay Condominium Association.
