Antonia de la Rosa said she'd distribute the fliers herself.

She'd hand them out during weekend soccer games if it meant more people from Carpentersville's Latino community would participate in shaping the town's future.

"I want to know what the village's plans are," de la Rosa, a five-year resident, said in Spanish as she stood Thursday in an almost empty meeting room at Golfview Elementary School. The village was holding a Spanish-language workshop on its comprehensive plan.
