Two Lake County paranormal investigators say something strange is happening in some of the spookiest spots in the area, and they're trying to find out what.

Chris Pumala of Lake County Paranormal Investigations in Antioch and Round Lake Beach resident Justin Villarreal, owner of the Lake County Ghost Hunters, have logged countless hours and spent serious money trying to figure out if that mysterious bump in the night is more than just a stray cat.

Armed with electronic voice phenomenon recorders, electromagnetic field detectors and video and still cameras of all sizes, the groups go to houses, cemeteries and forests looking for evidence of ghosts.

"We are a disproving group, as opposed to a proving group," Pumala said. "When we get something strange, we try to disprove it. But, if we can't disprove it, we go with what we found and let people decide for themselves."
