Professional athletes continue to make headlines from the police blotter and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch was so eager to make capital out of Leonard Little that the story of his arrest for drunken driving and subsequent felony charge topped both the sports section and the main news section, which is slightly over the top.

The Rams probably would be happiest if the National Football League took the team off the hook by levying stern punishment, taking the Rams off a spot directly between a rock and a hard place. While Little's arrest showed a typical athlete's feeling of being bulletproof and immortal, I'm sure this sort of action would have brought lesser charges if he were an ordinary man, even if it was a second offense, and six years later, at that.
