This is a book of readings unlike most, as the same author has written all twelve essays. The various essays were penned during the last two decades and assembled as a collection at the request of Bill Harnum, vice-president (scholarly publishing), and Gerald Hallowell, former history editor at the University of Toronto. The book represents research conducted by one of Canada's foremost scholars on Aboriginal history and gives hints as to how his thinking progressed during the time period represented by these writings.
