There is little doubt that over the last 20 years there has been an increasing interest in gardening and garden design. In the past, the structured garden containing urns, seating, statuary and ornaments was found only on larger and more formal properties. Today, interesting garden designs with equally interesting ornamental elements are found in a wide array of types, sizes and settings, ranging from the multiacre English formal garden to the high-rise terrace container gardens.
With the widening range of garden types and sizes, there also has been a widening range of vintage and antique garden elements used in the gardens. While virtually everyone is familiar with some of the forms of garden dements, a brief survey of what's available can be enlightening to the aspiring collector.
