Throughout Alaska, large homes are popping up with grand price tags.

An executive home is defined by its location, its surroundings and its square footage. Yet Alaska executive homes are in the city as well as the rustic woods.

Anchorage home professionals agree that an executive home in the city starts at $650,000, and are mostly new construction or total home renovations.

Designer Roger Williams has helped Anchorage home buyers for 23 years, with experience in both new construction and renovations.

Over the duration of the build, Williams works closely with the buyers to get to know their types of lifestyles and personalities.

"Building that size of home takes time," he said. "I get to know these folks pretty well. It is the same type of process (as less expensive homes); it just takes longer," he said, adding construction on such a home could take up to nine months.

Williams also makes sure to be on the build site at every phase of construction.

"Just to see the quality of the work that goes up," he said.

Various consultants, including a building designer, structural designer, kitchen designer and general contractor work independently, yet coordinate as a team to help the home buyers get their dream home. Williams also makes himself available to other contractors on the job.

"When someone is spending that kind of money, they have a team," he said.
