In the next few weeks the City Council will decide whether to require veterinarians to report rabies vaccinations to the Lane County Animal Regulation Authority.

LCARA manager Mike Wellington said most other places in the country require veterinarians to notify authorities when pets without licenses get their shots. The agency is trying to get other incorporated cities in Lane County to follow suit. Eugene, Junction City and unincorporated areas of the county already require the reporting.
