Drug-addicted girls will find a bed to rest in when they're ready to get clean after all.

The Eugene-based Willamette Family teen girl program got a last-minute reprieve with the arrival of a $1.6 million federal grant, otherwise the program would have run out of money today.

The treatment center got word late Thursday, just after a tense staff meeting about five layoffs, reductions in services - and, painfully, where to ship two girls who were the last in the dwindling program.

"It was absolutely 11th hour. That's what really makes it feel like a miracle," said program manager Lucy Zammarelli, and then she added: "Oh, my gosh, it's a total miracle."
