JUNCTION CITY - If history is any indication, Jeff Quinney is right on pace in his defense of the Oregon Classic title.

Quinney carded a birdie on the 18th hole to finish the first round of the $450,000 Nationwide Tour event with a 1-under 71 at Shadow Hills Country Club - the same first-round score he recorded en route to the title last year.

"Not bad," Quinney said afterward. "I was a little frustrated during the round. I was playing pretty solid early on, but I didn't get many putts to fall."

The South Eugene High School product is tied for 29th, six shots behind leaders Tim Wilkinson and David Morland IV.
