CORVALLIS - It has been a slow, agonizing process but the Beavers appear to be on the run again.

Appear to be. One 100-yard rushing performance in the past nine games, and just two in the past 16 do not a running game make.

The guy with the first 100-yard rushing day for Oregon State in nearly a year is Yvenson Bernard, a sophomore whose 134 total last week against Arizona State was the best single-game effort since Steven Jackson ran for 149 yards in the 2003 Las Vegas Bowl.

"We want to think that we're building in the running game," said Mike Riley, the OSU coach whose team has lost two straight games to level its record at 2-2 and takes on an always-challenging, 3-0 Washington State bunch on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Reser Stadium.
