JUNCTION CITY - There was a time, Brian Henninger admitted, when it was hard for him to accept playing on the Nationwide Tour. After all, he'd averaged 26 tournaments a year on the PGA Tour for 10 straight years, and won twice, and played in the Masters, and earned more than $3.2 million on golf's greatest stage.

Along those lines, the Sheldon High School graduate said, he's resisted playing in the Oregon Classic, perhaps sensing that, as the most successful professional golfer ever to emerge from a Eugene high school, his homecoming would be more awkward than triumphant, the attention focusing more on where he wasn't - the PGA Tour - than where he was.

"I didn't want to go there," he said Wednesday.
