Marvin Stoneberg

COBURG - The graveside funeral will be held Oct. 2 for lifetime Coburg resident Marvin M. Stoneberg, who died Sept. 25 of age-related causes. He was 83.

He was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Coburg, to Herbert and Althea Wilkins Stoneberg. He married Velma Johnson on May 31, 1947, in Eugene.

Stoneberg graduated from Coburg High School in 1940. He served in the Army medical corps during World War II, serving in Italy, France and Germany.

He was owner and operator of Protective Armored Services in Eugene. He enjoyed rockhounding, gardening, farming and yard work. He was a member of the Eugene Elks Lodge and the West Point Grange in Coburg.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Stan and Kenneth, both of Eugene, and Roger and Rodney, both of Coburg; two daughters, Roberta Larsen and Sandra Steele, both of Eugene; a brother, Kermit of Eugene; a sister, Lorinda "Lindy" LeBleu of Eugene; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Sunday's service will be held at 2 p.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Coburg Grange.

Ruth Justus

Ruth V. Justus of Bend, formerly of Eugene, died Sept. 16 of cancer. She was 88.

Justus was born Sept. 26, 1916, in Kellogg, Idaho, to Frank and Josephine Johnson. She married Orville Justus on Sept. 4, 1935, in Wallace, Idaho. He died Aug. 1, 1997.

She graduated from Kellogg High School in 1935. She lived for 60 years in Eugene, where she owned The Woolen Inn fabric store for 10 years. She enjoyed sewing, music, travel and visiting with her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Place of Bend; two sisters, Margaret McArthy of Lakewood, Calif., and Helen Lomas of Weiser, Idaho; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A son, Reginald "Reg", died Sept. 12, 2005.

No service is planned. Autumn Funerals of Bend is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Bend-La Pine.

Essie Patton

COTTAGE GROVE - The graveside funeral will be held Oct. 1 for Essie I. Patton of Cottage Grove, who died Sept. 24 of age-related causes. She was 86.

She was born June 29, 1919, in Palmer, Texas, to Roy and Myrtle Collins Davis. She married Victor Patton on July 14, 1934, in Kenefic, Okla. He died Nov. 22, 1990.

She lived in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and California before moving to Cottage Grove in 1947. She was a homemaker, and on the farm in Oklahoma she also cooked for the threshing crew. For a short time, she and her husband owned a store in Boggy Depot, Okla.

Patton enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, quilting and salmon fishing. She attended the Church of Christ in Cottage Grove.

Survivors include two sons, Victor of Cottage Grove and Jerry of Sedalia, Mo.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren....
