The Dundee-Crown boys soccer team came out with a purpose Thursday as the Chargers shutout Crystal Lake South 5-0 in a Fox Valley Conference match under the lights at South's Ken Bruhn Field.

"We came out strong," said Chargers' coach Rey Vargas.

And that they did, scoring their first goal in just the second minute of play.

The goal initiated from a Shane Svec center on the ground to teammate Christian Meza, who took a touch and hit it from point- blank range to the right-side, upper-ninety region of the goal.

Svec also found the back of the net in the twenty-first minute, and Meza recorded a second goal and an assist on the game as well.

Meza's assist was actually a shot-on-goal that was deflected away by a diving Mark McKenna, the Gators' goalkeeper. Senior Cory McCarthy was there,...
