It took time and patience for Tyler Holland to strike the delicate balance between loss and gain.

After three surgeries and nearly two years of rehabilitation, the Glenbard South senior has returned to doing what he loves the most - playing running back for the Raiders' football team.

"Being out for the last year and a half," he said, "it's been rough."

What was lost - all or part of five high school athletic seasons - has been replaced by the gain of appreciating every moment of what has turned into a pretty fine senior year.
