When Jackie Riforgiato was crowned homecoming queen, Lake Park High School in Roselle was an entirely different place.

There were no East and West campuses, only one building on Medinah Road. Students spent their lunch hour standing around a jukebox in the cafeteria listening to songs like "Runaround Sue" and danced at the sock hop. Lunch cost under $1. Girls wore pleated skirts and angora sweaters, while most boys wore fancy dress shirts.

"It was like the 'Happy Days' type of thing," said Riforgiato, Lake Park's homecoming queen of 1961.
