Lisa Mrijaj still has the flag she received from the judge who swore her in as a U.S. citizen.

She couldn't wait to become an American. The day she turned 18 she left the home she shared with her parents and three brothers near Mosholu Parkway in the Bronx and filled out the application papers. She studied hard for the test. When the big day arrived, she was ready.

"I was interviewed and asked all these questions. I went back to the office and asked my co-workers the same questions." Few could answer the questions correctly. She came to the conclusion--which has been borne out in numerous polls--that most natural-born Americans would fail to obtain their citizenship.
