...smaller scale than the International AIDS Conference (held last in Bangkok, Thailand in 2004) the IAS conference attracts roughly 5,000 delegates from around the world working in various aspects of the Global HIV AIDS pandemic. This year's theme of HIV Pathogenesis and Treatment focused on an overarching review of currently held strategies working towards the management and treatment of HIV disease. The conference spurred attendees to work toward narrowing the gap between scientific discovery and practice.
The tone of the conference was beset with unrelenting eagerness to shed light on the growing complexities of HIV from both a scientific and medical perspective inclusive of the socio-economic and political factors involved.
