The prospect of a burglary is every business owner's nightmare.

For San Diego-based SDA Security Systems, Inc., securing government buildings, banks, restaurants, and jewelry stores from break-ins and unidentified access has provided steady business for three generations.

Company President Rodney Eales took the reins from his father in 1966 after 33 years and now talks with pride about his oldest daughter, Shandon, SDA's director of sales and operations, filling his shoes.

In 2004, SDA Security Systems had revenues of $9.4 million, down from $10.1 million in the year-earlier period.
