Cut bureaucracy, not care for children

On top of $75 million in budget cuts targeting care for Illinois' most seriously abused and neglected children proposed earlier this year to balance the state budget, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services at a recent legislative hearing has now proposed slashing care to these 19,000 children by another $80 million, while sparing its bloated bureaucracy.
