With August just around the corner and true summer heat upon us, we are again reminded that California's energy supplies are running thin.

Seven times last summer we set new records for the amount of power we consumed as a state. The good news is that the lights stayed on and much of this increased demand can be attributed to the fact that our economy is rebounding back, requiring more power.

The bad news is that, according to energy officials, our power demands are growing faster than supplies are being added.
