Article Excerpt When Peter G. Callaghan and a business partner, Andrew Feuerstein, bought the BMW of Greenwich dealership two years ago, they wanted to make the business more efficient, speed up the service center, please customers more and provide more for employees.
So they invested $12 million building a large new parts and service facility in Port Chester, designing it with particular features to achieve each of those goals. The building is unusual both for its size and the fact that it's at a separate location from the dealership's showroom in Greenwich, Conn.
"Traditionally, you made your money in the sale of new cars," said Callaghan, president of the dealership. "Now, it's car parts, service and sales. That's why it's so important we retain our customers."
The behemoth of a building encloses 3 acres and at 130,000 square feet, the structure is the size of an average Home...
