State tournament: After winning the Area, District 13 and Sectional championships in separate tournaments, the 10-year-old Bartlett American All-Stars earned a trip to the state Little League tournament in South Cicero earlier this month. By playing solid defense and getting quality pitching performances and timely hitting, Bartlett finished third out of more than 200 teams eligible for the state title.

Team members are Jesse Benbrook, Mike D'Alessandro, Nick Garcia, Ryan Karrick, Billy Sippel, Vinny Caruso, Bryan Irwin, James Cronin, Michael Roberson, Phil Garza, Brandon Barr and Ryan Stancl. The team was managed by Art Karrick and assisted by coaches Mike Roberson and Jim Stancl.

Shooting

National competition: Four members of the Arlington International Airgun Club of Arlington Heights took the silver medal in the Sporter Club division at the 2005 National Junior Olympic Three-Position Air Rifle Championship the week of July 4 in Bowling Green, Ky.
