Nobody needs to remind Oregon about the misadventures of the Ducks on special teams in last season's opening game.

`It plays on everybody's mind,' Duck senior Justin Phinisee said.

It should. It was a comedy of miscues that cost the Ducks in a 30-24 defeat to Indiana in the opening game of a season that ended up 5-6.

Cue the tape ...

The Ducks returned the game's opening kickoff for an apparent touchdown, only to have it called back by a penalty. The Ducks fumbled Indiana's first two punts, setting up Hoosier scoring drives of 30 and 14 yards that made it 17-0.

Meanwhile, Oregon's first two punts traveled 22 and 19 yards. And the Ducks went wide left on a field goal when the margin was down to six points. Oh, and Indiana returned a kickoff 98 yards, and had it count for a touchdown.

Sure, the Oregon offense lost two fumbles itself and threw in three interceptions, but when has there ever been so much ineptitude in one game on special teams?

A new season starts for the Ducks on Thursday night in Houston, and there can be no question about the emphasis...
