Most people keep clothes in their closets. But California Closets President and Chief Executive Officer Michael DeHart has learned to expect the unexpected when he sizes up a new job.

"We've seen just about anything," DeHart said. "But perhaps the most funky and shocking thing I have ever seen was someone raising turtles in their master bedroom closet."

The turtles didn't stop the closet-organization company from doing its job, however.

"We put in heat lamps for the turtles and were more than happy to do it for them (the turtles) and working with the owner," he said.

DeHart, who says he is self-made in business, started California Closets in 1978 right out of high school.
