Ford recommends replacing aging tires.

After reports of deaths and injuries related to failures of aging tires, Ford Motor Co.--based on its own research--now recommends that consumers replace their tires after six years. The company posted the recommendation on its Web site, joining other automakers that have taken a similar stance. Because tires degrade over time even if they are not being used, the recommendation says, "you should replace the spare tire when you replace the other road tires." Ford posted the recommendation in April as a way to reach out to new and existing customers, and the company will include a similar recommendation in its 2006 owners manuals, said Ford spokesman Daniel Jarvis....
