Space for industrial development is at a premium in the state's three coastal counties but is more plentiful in the counties just to the north of Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties. Business and population growth are filling up buildings and acres in a thriving economy.

It's real simple for Hal Waiters to explain the space situation in Hancock County. "We're full! We have no space," the executive director of the Hancock County Ports and Harbor Commission said. "It's a good problem to have, but is also very frustrating because we keep getting calls about site availability."

The bustling county which is home to NASA's Stennis Space Center is attracting high-tech-type industries in the fields of oceanographics, geomatics, propulsion and aviation. The first building in a new private technology park will be complete in October and 20,000 square feet of the 30,000 is already spoken for. Walters said the owners are getting ready to build two more buildings...
