Before he took office, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was given a multi-million dollar contract by America Media Inc. for his role in the company's fitness publications. Later, he vetoed legislation that would have regulated the nutritional supplements industry--the magazines' main advertisers. Under fire, he dropped his paid role in the company, and officials have evoked plans for legislation aimed at preventing this kind of conflict in the future. So the Business Journal asks:
