It is difficult to track who is selling which product under what name. Westlaw and a hoard of print and electronic publications used to be sold by West Publishing Company, eventually changed simply to "WestGroup" and placed under "the Thomson umbrella" after purchase by theThomson publishing interests. A few months ago, the organization became simply West, with the Thomson umbrella replaced by a Starburst logo below the name Thomson.. (The Thomson Corporation now owns West, and a wide variety of other companies. Look hard and you'll find RIA, Dialog and even Gale beneath the Thomson - Starburst logo. Thomson & Thomson, the well known intellectual property search firm is also owned by The Thomson Corporation and has been given the right to the Starburst, but uses it beneath its own name, with no text signal that Thomson & Thomson has any relationship to Thomson..)
Government agencies reorganize and change names, too.. Until picking up West's new version 4 of its ImmForms Plus CD-Rom service, I thought that immigration specialists practiced under the aegis of the INS.
