Article Excerpt In 1973, lawyers began to learn how useful it was to to enter a search request for group of words, and have a program search the documents in the a selected group of documents, isolate the documents that include the requested word or words, and return an appropriate answer set. (The occasion, of course, was the introduction of Lexis and how could we live without Computer Assisted Legal Research, today.)
But what if you'd like to search your own documents? A few weeks ago I reviewed X-1, an inexpensive program that can deal with your e-mail and small groups of documents. This week, I'll look at the latest version of an old favorite, dtSearch.

dtSearch, Version 6.20 Desktop installed easily from a CD-Rom, to less than 50 Megabytes of hard disk space. After installation I checked the developer's Web site for possible updates --- an almost automatic requirement these days), and noted a Version 6.21 available as a free upgrade to 6.20 users.
