Ah the joys of my youth. Summer was the time for picnics, when a kid could win a prize by attempting the impossible, be it eating a blueberry pie without your hands or spitting a watermelon seed across the park.

Craig Foltos is going to recreate a childhood experience as a fund-raiser to benefit Batavia parks. In an attempt to bring back the spider web playground apparatus, he is organizing a ice cream eating contest this Sunday at 1 p.m. the Peg Bond Center at the Riverwalk.

This is a new event for Foltos to sponsor and he is making sure it will be fun for kids. He even did a trial-and-error test of the event...
