PROJECT OVERVIEW:

A Sino/Malaysian joint venture recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in order to secure a $1,000,000,000,000 power line project from the state-owned TENAGA NATIONAL BHD. The partners in the planned undertaking include the local PUTERA CAPITAL BHD and KUB POWER SDN BHD in conjunction with CHINA NATIONAL ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT CORP. (CNEEC).

According to the terms of the MOU, the partners will prepare a technical and financial proposal to secure the envisioned project. The planned development will involve upgrading some of TENAGA's transmission lines as well as building new ones.

As things currently stand, the MINISTRY OF ENERGY, WATER & COMMUNICATIONS is expected to assist the group of companies in getting TENAGA to enter into an exclusive initial agreement with the firms on the project. Hence, if TENAGA accepts the group's proposal, CNEEC will be appointed the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contractor.

CNEEC is engaged in the construction of thermal and hydroelectric plants as well as power transmission and distribution projects in addition to environmental and energy conservation.
