After conquering some hidden fears of floating in large bodies of water, I gritted my teeth and gave in to a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico, for a family reunion. I wasn't terrified of the water so much that I was suffering from a phobic reaction. I know how to swim. But the fact of being in the Gulf of Mexico for four days, on a 727-foot-long, 46,052-ton boat that amazingly could float, raised my adrenaline just a few notches.
