In the past all metal hot zones have been said to have some major weaknesses like higher energy consumption, shorter lifetime, higher capital cost and higher maintenance costs compared to insulated type hot zones. During the last decade however, Plansee has focused on the development of all metal hot zones with the goal to minimise these weaknesses. Special effort has been put into the introduction of High-Performance Materials (HPM) like Plansee ML molybdenum, fundamental design development and fabrication progress.
