Buffalo Grove
- Burglars stole an in-dash stereo May 24 out of a 1994 Buick Century parked in a student lot at Buffalo Grove High School, 1100 Dundee Road, police said. Value was estimated at $200.
- Someone set a portable toilet on fire around 8:50 p.m. May 23 in the park behind Kilmer School, 655 Golfview Terrace, police said. The toilet was adjacent to the baseball diamond, reports added. Firefighters put out the fire with hand-held extinguishers, reports said. Damage was estimated at $200.
- Two women conned a 79-year-old Wheeling woman out of $1,900 between 11 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. May 23, police said. According to reports, one of the women approached the victim in the Walgreens parking lot, 15 Buffalo Grove Road, and told her another woman had found a wallet with money and asked the victim if the wallet belonged to her. The second woman arrived with the wallet, and the two offenders spent the next two hours talking to the victim and convincing her that they could split the supposed $100,000 in the wallet, if she would put money in a "trust" that would be held by the boss of one of the...
