Company to Create 400 New Jobs at Washington/Greene County Mine

PITTSBURGH, May 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CONSOL Energy Inc. has submitted permit applications for a proposed expansion of its Enlow Fork mine near Washington, Pennsylvania. The expansion project is estimated to cost $500 million, will create 400 new mining jobs with an annual payroll of $41 million and will increase the capacity of the Enlow Fork Mine by about 70 percent. It will consist of expanded underground mining activity and the construction of additional processing facilities at a new site on the surface.

"This is the single largest capital project in the company's history," said Peter B. Lilly, chief operating officer for CONSOL Energy. "Moreover, I suspect that it is the largest capital project undertaken in southwestern Pennsylvania in recent years." Lilly spoke at a news conference near Washington, Pa., where Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Dennis Yablonsky, announced the project.
