Pennsylvania Gov. Rendell Announces Approved 'Business in Our Sites' Construction Projects.

CFA Approves 10 Projects Estimated to Create More Than 14,400 Jobs

HARRISBURG, Pa., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell today announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has approved 10 construction grants and loans, totaling $56.9 million, through the Business in Our Sites (BOS) program. BOS projects work to create shovel-ready sites for businesses through land acquisition, construction and feasibility studies. Since guidelines for Business in Our Sites were approved last fall, the CFA has approved 48 projects totaling more than $136 million.

"The Business in Our Sites program empowers communities throughout Pennsylvania to attract growing and expanding businesses," said Gov. Rendell. "These projects will create more than 14,000 jobs throughout Pennsylvania that will spawn other economic development. Through the BOS program, we provide the necessary tools through vacant site redevelopment and strategic planning. Having sites that are ready to accommodate economic investment is the key to creating jobs."

The Business in Our Sites program was created to provide funding to communities for the development of ready-to-build sites for new and expanding businesses. A $300 million funding pool of grants and loans is available to municipalities and redevelopment authorities for the acquisition and development of these sites.
