Messages in water: there is now plenty of evidence to show that we can affect the crystalline structure of water with our thoughts and prayers. Richard Beaumont spoke to Dr Masaru Emoto, the pioneer behind this astonishing discovery.

Since his first book Hidden Messages from Water was published in 1999, Dr Masaru Emoto's astonishing photos of water crystals have been seen in every country in the world. His books have been reprinted many times and the message of our interconnectedness with all life has had a deeply positive effect on all those who have seen them.

For those readers who do not yet know of his work (see Kindred Spirit issue 63), he photographs frozen water crystals at high magnification. He has discovered that the crystals taken from water that has had prayer or positive thoughts directed at it, or has had life enhancing words written on labels attached to its container, are symmetrical and beautiful. However, water crystals from water that has had negative thoughts or life-denigrating words attached to its container is unsymmetrical and chaotic.

Clearing pollution with prayer

The implication of Dr Emoto's discoveries is that if water could be so dramatically affected by positive thought and devoted prayer it could actually be cleared of pollution. The degree to which this is possible was a burning question in me as water pollution is such an overwhelming reality in the world and a source of so much illness and even death.
