Good that Hyde has decided to step aside

As a firm believer in the value of public service, I can appreciate the accolades being made to Rep. Henry Hyde as he announces his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives. But a recent experience I had with his office in Washington indicates that it is time for him to step aside.

I am a constituent, a resident of Glen Ellyn, and attempted to meet with Hyde as part of my own public service, a volunteer with the Human Rights Campaign Illinois Steering Committee.
