Dundee-Crown softball coach Bob Sweeney couldn't help but recall last year's Fox Valley Conference game against Jacobs in Carpentersville.

The Golden Eagles rallied in the seventh inning last year for the win, and Jacobs was down 4-2 going into the seventh inning of Friday's FVC matchup at Dundee-Crown.

Same situation, different result.

Dundee-Crown pitcher Quinn Chardavoyne retired the side in order, and Sweeney could smile after the 4-2 upset win over Jacobs (14-5, 9-2).

"It was extremely disappointing. We were missing a few key players (because of prom-related reasons), but that's no excuse for making mental errors and physical errors the way we did today," said Jacobs coach Jeremy Bauer, whose team fell from first place in the FVC with the loss.

"It's unfortunate, but that's why we play the games. Anything can happen."

All of the Chargers' runs were unearned, with the runs coming off Jacobs senior Laura Green.
