Dear Scot: I own a 2004 Saturn Vue with a 3.5-liter engine and all-wheel drive. In cold weather after the car ran for about 30 minutes, I noticed a popping sound coming from underneath. It sounded like someone tapping on the back window with his or her knuckle. It also happened repeatedly for about three minutes as I started driving in cold, damp weather recently.
