Two new tourism venues that are scheduled to come on-line next month may pass under the radar screen for leisure travelers.

But as far as convention and meeting planners are concerned, the San Diego Wine & Culinary Center and Harbor Excursions' luxury mega yacht, the California Spirit, are major attractions.

While carpenters finish construction of the Wine & Culinary Center in 4,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space at the Harbor Club in Downtown San Diego, the 160-foot-long California Spirit, which sailed into San Diego from Florida last week, was moored at the South Bay Boatyard. That's, where it's being loaded with furniture and fixtures for service as a dinner cruiser.

The Wine & Culinary Center's location on the west side of the Harbor Club is off the beaten path, since it fronts an esplanade between the high-rise condominium tower and the San Diego Trolley...
