Jeanne Matsukis had planned to drive to her daughter's house in Lombard for a cookout on Sunday.

But a deluge of rain ended those plans and trapped the Elgin woman in her mobile home.

"I can't leave my house; I'm surrounded on all sides," she said of water that encroached her driveway, back yard and everywhere in between. "I hope my car doesn't float away."
