- While spring break means sun and sand for most college students, nearly 200 students from Southern Illinois University Carbondale spent the 2004 spring break week gaining real-world experience by working as externs for companies throughout Illinois and the United States.

Tim Egan of Libertyville interned for McAdam Landscape Professionals in Forest Park, and James Adams of Vernon Hills interned at the Sporting News in Northbrook.
