Memorial Day is much more than an unofficial kickoff to summer.

It's a day to give thanks that we live in a free nation and to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for that blessing.

Today, proudly fly the American flag, line the route for Lisle's Memorial Day parade and appreciate our homespun displays of patriotism. Your actions will convey to children - louder than all the patriotic speeches given today - the message that we remember the contributions veterans made to our country, recognize those who continue to serve and treasure our common heritage.
