SCHAUMBURG, Ill., May 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Pharmaceutical Partners, Inc. today reported record first quarter net sales of $120.7 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2005, a 35% increase over net sales of $89.2 million in the 2004 first quarter. First quarter net income was a quarterly record $24.3 million, or $0.33 per diluted share, versus $11.8 million, or $0.16 per diluted share in last year's first quarter. First quarter 2005 gross margin increased to 62.4% versus 49.8% in the year ago quarter.
