As soon as he said it, Bruce Hartnell knew he'd found the right line.

"That's it. That's the headline right there."

The magic sentence? "We're a band of hired guns."

And for the the Eugene based Latin-punk band Los Mex Pistols del Norte, it's an apt description. The band's core membership keeps itself busy in other bands.

Jordan Glenn, for instance, plays with Deke Falcon, the Visible Men and Scrambled Ape. Dave Clark also is with Deke Falcon. Jivan Valpey plays with everyone, or has.

Even Jeremiah Harris, the sousaphone player, keeps busy as a music student at Lane Community College and a member of the school symphony.
